“Whoa. It feels wrong to say that Flown ‘snuck up on me’ because it’s too honest a piece of craftsmanship. There’s nothing obvious about it, but the pieces fell into place one by one before my eyes, and before I knew it I’d been swept away by something quite marvelous and quite powerful.”

-Andrew Bujalski (Director: Results, Computer Chess)

Synopsis:

Flown is the story of Jack, a former astronaut, who is struggling to find his place in the world as so many of the dreams he had for his life become increasingly distant memories. The film speaks to not only people coming from the space program or remarkable careers, but anybody who feels that their life is in decline. Flown also divulges the uniquely untold story of astronauts, the highly skilled few that have done what man has dreamed of doing for centuries, looked back on the earth from the heavens, and what they do after this remarkable event. Flown takes us deep underwater for a portion of the film as well, where the entire climax takes place forty feet underwater as our character struggles to reconnect with the feeling of weightlessness. There are many interesting aspects of this film that we think provide unique perspectives to the widely unexplored story of 21st century explorers.
